Everything We Know About GTA 6 So Far In 2024

The anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been massive – and we gamers have been lapping up every announcement that has trickled into our sights since it was first announced in early 2022. While we can't believe that it's been two years since the long-awaited teaser of this monumental game, it will still be a bit longer until we get to put our hands on the controller for GTA 6.

Rumoured to have been in development since 2014, Rockstar Games, the creators of this epic story-mode action game, only acknowledged its existence in 2022 – when a tweet offered some vital information. We've been waiting for sneak previews since that announcement two years ago, but hang on to your seats – they've finally released the trailer!

Within 24 hours, GTA 6 set the world record for the most YouTube views ever! Racking up almost 100 million watchers, you can see that everyone wants to look into this famous game. There are already lots of great titles we're waiting for in 2024, but the die-hard GTA fans have their sights set further afield. So, what do we know so far, and what will be different? Let's take a look at what we've managed to find out…

Casino Spaces

You heard that right: the casino space in GTA 6 will be ramped up to new levels. We know that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas had a casino format in the story-mode game – but that was made twenty years ago, so you can only imagine the high-tech visuals we will be getting for 2025's game.

In the San Andreas version, you had to go back and forth to the casinos several times, saving and reloading the game and making billions before the story even started – but there is word on the street that GTA 6 will be incorporating everyone's love for the casino into the actual story. It will be designed like a real house gaming experience. It will make the most of modern tech to maximize the realism, just like when playing poker on your phone or online roulette in Canada - only as part of your GTA 6 experience. Leaks has announced that you can gamble in single-player mode and dabble in slot machines and roulette. While Rockstar Games haven't confirmed this, we hope the rumours are valid in the Grand Theft Auto Universe.

Characters

Move along, old characters: GTA 6 is all about the female protagonists, and we couldn't love this change any more! Welcome, Lucia. In a Bonnie and Clyde-esque relationship, the launch trailer introduced the new protagonists for GTA 6. The female lead, Lucia, is wearing a prison uniform, which shows that some of the story will be about her struggle with the law. The other male protagonist hasn't yet been announced, but in the Bonnie and Clyde relationship that he has with Lucia, we can only imagine that they've got themselves mixed up in some crime – it is GTA 6, after all.

There wasn't much given away about the new characters' storyline, and that's okay, but detectives on the game and in the news are all saying that GTA is tricking us and putting a trailer out about Lucia's life in reverse. We can't wait to find out. We may be saying goodbye to some fan favourites ("cough cough" Trevor), but something tells us it's time for new beginnings.

The Map

GTA 6 returns to Vice City, where the first ever GTA was set in 1986. The 2025 version is the modern-day setting that shows ultra-high-definition cityscapes built up to the nines. Rockstar Games themselves announced that they were setting the game in the state of Leonida, the neon-soaked streets of Vice City. However, this is just a snippet with leaks showing that Vice City is only a tiny part of a larger map.

According to the game developers, new map areas will be added regularly after the launch in 2025. They want to launch the game as soon as possible and save time developing it.

Vice City looks prettier than ever in the released trailer, with Florida being just as chaotic as if you'd landed in the real deal. Fans and GTA lovers have been comparing the map in the trailer with what we've all come to know and love – and the new game will include high-definition visuals like no game has ever achieved. We think it will be well worth the 10-year development stage, that's for sure.

The final news confirmed is the cameo appearance by the rapper Faheem Rashad Najm, also known as T-Pain. He has recently been cut from the server of the previous GTA, and all questions were geared at where he had gone – but it has now been confirmed that he is conjuring up something good for GTA 6 with Rockstar Games. We'll continue researching the constant leaks and updates relating to this highly anticipated game – but until then, we can't wait for 2025!
